It has been more than twelve months since Ash (and consequently, the family) was appointed by his bishop to be a missionary to Peru with The Mission Society.  In that time, they have traveled across Georiga, Alabama, and Tennesse and into Montana, Colorado and Minnesota sharing God's vision for them for the work they are to do among the people living high in the Andes Mountains.  They have been told there are an estimated 30,000 villages and  communities in Peru who do not have a strong Christian witness.  With this in mind, there are two major areas of ministry in which they will be involved:

1. They will train pastors and church leaders from a variety of denominations.  These pastors and leaders will move outward from the city like ripples from a stone tossed into a pond, touching the lives of those with whom they come in contact.
2. They will work closely with the Quechua people living in the community.  Currently, most of what they learn about God is in Spanish (a second langauge for many of them).  God willing, the McEuens will create relationships with them enabling the family to empower and equip the people to develop, translate and publish Christian materials in the local dialect of Quechua. 

The McEuen family is now living in Costa Rica in order to gain fluency in Spanish.  They will be there until April 2009, at which time they will move to Peru.
