Opportunities for Ministry in Africa
Become a ministry partner in Africa
Opportunities abound for field leaders to be trainers in Africa
And you never thought you’d be a missionary? Operation Harvest from Evangelism Explosion International (EE) is a new innovative ministry that connects “westerners” with missionaries on the front lines. These “frontliners” we call Implementation Field Workers (IFWs).
Similar to child sponsorship programs where an individual sponsors a child, Operation Harvest offers you the opportunity to sponsor and EE IFW and his/her family and “connect” with them personally as they are actually propelled into ministry making progress and bearing fruit. In short, you join the IFW in an active and significant ministry—on the frontlines!
Upon being supported, these African IFW’s work in the country, and culture, they know and love. They fully understand the people and language so there is no downtime in learning the culture. They work side-by-side with African pastors, helping them to implement the EE ministry in their communities. Initially, Operation Harvest will begin in Africa and gradually spread to other continents.
For some time, Dr. Ron Tyler, EE Vice President for Africa, who serves jointly with the Mission Society, grappled with how EE could be used to reach all the people of Africa with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. While many inroads were being made, much work had yet to be done. “The words ‘field workers’ kept coming to mind,” he recalled.
Ron decided to test the field worker approach. Records indicated to him that if 10 pastors attended an EE clinic, only two would start the EE ministry within their churches (20 percent). To help increase implementation, trained field workers were sent to African pastors who had attended and EE clinic. It was soon discovered that, with the help of the field worker, implementation jumped to 70 and even 80 percent!
But here’s the hitch. Field workers must be supported. They can’t start their ministry without the partnership of “Western” sponsors.
“Today,” Ron said, “most Christians want more hands-on and direct involvement in missions.” Hence, when Ron started arranging for sponsors to be directly involved with field workers, their family, their daily routine, Operation Harvest was born.
For a small sponsorship fee of $35 per month, the sponsor develops a vital partner relationship with an African field worker and his/her family.

Through Operation Harvest, the evangelistic harvest in Africa will greatly increase. And you, through your financial support, prayers, and input on the field become a lifeline ministry partner with an African IFW and share in his/her ministry progress and fruitfulness. It’s the next best thing to being a missionary!
