Subject: What a week!!

Greetings in the Name of our Jesus!!

It is with great joy and thankfulness to God through all of you that I share what our sweet Lord has been doing. Last I wrote we and a team of 12 from OK were getting ready to minister to 200 kids in the school close to the property in Chaquibamba. We had a great time and the community has been very grateful. There were about 12 adults present for all 3 days who are asking when we will be doing other events. I cannot tell you how this one open door has opened and warmed the entire community. We drive down the road now and people are waving instead of looking at us with suspicion—God is gaining ground by these small acts of love. We have a couple who wants to learn more as well as collaborate in our mission. We hope to offer Victor who is an unemployed father of 4 and his wife Rosa some part time work at the property as we bring them to a decision for Christ and later disciple them. Several prayed to receive Christ on the last day but there is a big need for a form for follow up so we have been planning what to do next.

That’s not all God did in one week……….. Our pastor, Ramiro went to a poorer school 3-4 blocks from our church in Quito on Monday to invite 100 kids to a program to be held at the church on Thurs.-Sat. The director gave permission to invite the kids but then shared about how wonderful it would be if we could do something with all the kids at the school. We were on our way back in the bus when we got the call from Ramiro about working with all 280 kids. Tim and I laughed and then asked the group and at first hesitantly then with great excitement agreed. They had already ministered to more kids than the original estimate which they brought supplies for, now it was a race to get more stuff ready. God Himself prepared the hearts of this team.

We played with 300 kids for 2 afternoons at a public school during school hours and made the teachers help us in their classrooms—they saw a side of Christ they rarely see and a side of the Evangelical church which they did not know existed. In all the team loved and fed over 500 people. To God be the glory!!

As far as the physical part of this team’s work; first of all they pulled up, moved and burned tomato trees and bamboo poles from a 1 acre area, worked at the property cleaning up 100+ lime trees and exterminating 1,000s of snails one by one. They purchased our water tank which is enormous and paid for the tractor work so we can start planting this month.

We have one more team this summer which comes tomorrow night from TN. They will minister to between 100-200 kids from the streets of Quito at our church for 3 days. They will dig canals for the main pipes of the drip irrigation system and install the water tank after we push it uphill, and possibly move the fence line. While they are here we will have the first lime harvest day with a few of the local pastors. Our Quito youth will host 2 events with the 3 youth on the team. The most important event will be on Friday evening. This will be our first all out evangelistic event in Chaquibamba with several pastors and a worship team from Quito. Expected attendance is 300. Please pray for open hearts and loving servant’s hearts as this is the first event we have tried with our Ecuadorian pastors. We do things a bit different than they have seen so we are blazing a new trail.

Gotta go get ready but wanted to direct your prayers and say thank you again. TO GOD BE THE GLORY AND THANKS!!!
