The Mission Society provides global missionary support through missionary recruiting, missionary training and equipping church leaders and others to lead international and short-term mission trips. Based in Norcross, GA, The Mission Society was originally formed to support Methodist missionaries, but now works with a variety of Wesleyan denominations offering missionary training, missionary seminars, missionary workshops and church leadership training throughout the United States and around the world.

  • Event date: August 30 — September 2, 2010

    The Mission Society will conduct training for Mission Interns as well as Wesley Foundation Campus Ministers at The Mission Society’s headquarters in Norcross. Orientation to philosophy, core values of The Mission Society, and training in discipleship and cross-cultural ministry are the key focal points of this training event.

  • Event date: September 12 — 15, 2010

    By invitation of staff, attend Candidate Assessment and Orientation, which is held several times a year in Atlanta. The candidate is responsible for the costs of CAO, which usually totals $200 plus travel expenses. (CAO not required for interns or campus missionaries.) The four days include interaction with staff, ministry and team-building activities, interviews and a Personality Profile Assessment. Approval for missionary appointment made at the end of the week.

     

  • Event date: October 7 — 9, 2010

    Beyond These Walls is a mission conference co-sponsored by The Mission Society. Hosted by McEachern Memorial United Methodist Church in Powder Springs, Georgia, the conference will be held October 7-9, 2010.

    Dr. Tony Campollo and Rev. Jorge Acevedo, a Mission Society board member, will serve as the keynote speakers. Mission Society staff members Stan Self and Dr. Darrell Whiteman will lead workshops during the event.

  • Event date: November 2 — 3, 2010

    The Mission Society's bi-annual Board meeting will gather for two days in the Norcross area. All board members, staff, and missionaries are invited to attend.

  • Event date: November 3 — 6, 2010

    Upon successful completion of Candidate Orientation, newly approved missionaries will be invited to a second event, called Foundations Training. This event takes place at least twice a year. Attendees will learn about support raising, policies and procedures, and other subjects that will help them in their deputation process. Attendees are responsible for the costs of Foundations Training, plus travel expenses.
